  1. The most popular MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) game in the world has an impressive number of players. Almost 4 million peak viewers watched the grand final of the largest annual tournament Worlds 2019 – and that's without taking the Chinese platforms into account.
  2. The first World Champions had a prize pool of $98500. This amount is dwarfed over the years with the highest so far being 2018 Championships. The initial prize pool of the tournament is $2,225,000 USD with addition of in game skins and revenue the total prize pool was $6,450,000 USD.

The 2020 World Championship is the crowning event of League of Legends esports for the year. The tournament welcomes 22 teams from all regions of the game in a months-long race for the Summoner’s Cup. This year’s world championship will be held exclusively in Shanghai, China to reduce travel throughout the tournament and control the show environment under the coronavirus pandemic.
